How Does the XP System Work and Why Should I Care

Note: This is the updated XP system valid as of November 2nd, 2025.

TLDR​

  1. Earn XP for Messages/Posts: ~10-13 points every ~10 minutes. Longer, more thoughtful Messages: Up to 30% points bonus.
  2. Consistent Valuable Content: Election of up to 20 most valuable Coordination Zone and Insights Zone contributors, earning 150-950 XP bonus.
  3. Mission Rewards: for actively participating and completing missions; rewards system under development and being tested.
  4. Research Squads: for contributing meaningfully to or leading a Research Squad; rewards system under development.
  5. High-Quality Alpha Forum Posts: Bonus of 75, 150, or 300 extra points.
  6. Accurate Profitable Calls: 500 XP instant bonus for calls on projects with ≥50% upside or ≥30% downside (if forecast was accurate).

Basics​

XP points are awarded for actively posting (quality) content in the Retail DAO Discord Server. More points lead to higher Levels, which may result in greater Retail Token rewards.

  • Activity: Posting in the Discord Server earns XP, advancing you through ranking levels. Certain milestones grant XP Level roles as rewards.
  • Leaderboard: Visit the Top 100 Leaderboard.
  • Commands:
    • /leaderboard: View top 10 and get Leaderboard link.
    • /level: Check your level and XP progress.
    • /rewards: View role reward levels/milestones and XP Level roles.

How Does It Work?​

To reach XP Levels:

  • Level 1: 75 XP (~6-8 messages)

  • Level 2: 250 XP (+175, ~20-25 messages total)

  • Level 3: 525 XP (+275, ~41-53 messages total)

  • Level 5: 1,375 XP (+850)

  • Level 10: 5,250 XP (+3,875)

  • Level 15: 11,625 XP (+6,350)

  • Level 25: 31,875 XP (+20,250)

  • Earning XP: Randomized points for posts/messages in COORDINATION ZONE, INSIGHTS ZONE and GOVERNANCE ZONE. Higher-effort messages may receive a bonus percentage.

  • Anti-Spam Measures: Monitoring prevents bad-faith gaming of the system, which may lead to point loss, mute, or ban.

  • Rewards Cycles: Every ~2 months, a snapshot of XP Level role statuses determines token distributions. Higher XP Levels yield more tokens.

  • Reset: After each cycle’s snapshot, XP points and XP Level roles reset.

  • Eligibility: Must qualify for the Verified Members role and have a wallet address registered on airdrop distribution day to receive XP airdrop.

XP Level Milestones and Associated Discord Role​

  • Level 2 → XP Level 2 role
  • Level 3 → XP Level 3 role
  • Level 5 → XP Level 5 role
  • Level 8 → XP Level 8 role
  • Level 12 → XP Level 12 role

The highest performers in the Level 12 role may receive an additional bonus on top of the regular reward for that Level.

XP Bonuses​

The XP system rewards quantity (activity) and quality (exceptional contributions) via bonus points. We aim to give more weight to quality.

Election of Most Valuable Alpha Zone Contributors Twice per Month​

  • Process: During every ~15 days all members can upvote posts that contributed high-quality/valuable content in the Coordination Zone and Insights Zone. This program has started August 15, 2025 and came in place of the Bi-Weekly Poll Election.
  • Voting: All members can each cast up to 6 upvotes (Owl Reaction) per day that earn the receiver "Reputation" points. Up to the best 20 in every 15 days will receive XP Bonus Rewards. After each cycle has concluded (snapshot taken) Reputation points will reset to 0 for the new 15 days cycle.
  • Rewards: Up to 15 winners receive:
    • 1st: 950 XP
    • 2nd: 900 XP
    • 3rd: 850 XP
    • 4th: 800 XP
    • 5th: 750 XP
    • 6th: 700 XP
    • 7th: 650 XP
    • 8th: 600 XP
    • 9th: 550 XP
    • 10th: 500 XP
    • 11th: 450 XP
    • 12th: 400 XP
    • 13th: 350 XP
    • 14th: 300 XP
    • 15th: 250 XP
    • 16-20th: 200 XP
  • Eligibility: Members need ≥2 upvotes (Reputation points) to rank and still be a Verified Member on the day of the Reputation Snapshot. Ties are resolved by each member receiving the higher rank’s points (ex. if #4, 5 and 6 tie, all three receive 800 XP). If there is a tie for the 15th place, then all members that tie for that spot receive 200 Bonus (and in which case more than 20 will receive an XP bonus that cycle).

Mission Rewards​

Currently there is not a fixed reward system yet for the new Missions Channel participants. This is currently under development and being tested. So far Missions have had pools of 300,000 $RETAIL or rewards of up to 300 XP individual bonus per completed mission. When a more structured rewards system has been determined, it will be described here.

Research Squad Bonuses​

Currently there is no specific rewards system in place for Research Squads (other than from regular 🦉 upvote bonuses and "auto-XP"). This is still under development and when a more concrete rewards system is determined, it will be descibed here.

Forum Post Bonus​

High-quality posts in the ALPHA FORUM can earn bonus XP.

How It Works:​

  1. Nomination: Posts with ≥5 positive reactions can be nominated by tagging @Contributors/@Moderators in the Forum Post Thread or ⁠general-chat with a link. Contributors/Moderators can initiate without 5 reactions.
  2. Polling: A 24-hour poll is created with options:
    • 75 XP bonus
    • 150 XP bonus
    • 300 XP bonus
    • Abstain (no bonus)
  3. Voting: If ≥5 votes are cast, the original poster (OP) receives the winning points. In case of ties: If two options tie, we combine with the higher/lower tier to see which side has majority support. In those cases "Abstain" counts towards 75. If still tied → lowest point value wins. Example: 75 = 5 votes, 150 = 5 votes, 300 = 1 vote → 150+300 = 6, so 150 wins. If 2 Abstain votes are added → 75+Abstain = 7 vs 6 → 75 wins.

Encourage high-quality posts by reacting on Forum Posts and voting for them in the polls! Additionally, members are encouraged to also give 🦉 upvotes to Forum Posts and thread comments. Note: Eligibility criteria may adjust if reaction thresholds or nomination volumes become unmanageable.

Instant XP Bonus for Profitable Calls​

  • Reward: 500 XP instant bonus for accurate alpha calls/forecasts.
  • Post eligibility requirements (edge cases at discretion of moderators):
    • Coin/token ticker and/or name must be clearly stated in the post and there should not be ambiguity which project it is about.
    • Entry price or buy/sell zone should be included. If none is given, the post may still qualify (within reasonable limits and at moderators discretion), but we will assume the entry price is the market price at time of publication.
    • Estimated time window should be included. If none is given, the forecasted move must have started within 30 days of the post, showing consistent higher highs (for longs) or lower lows (for shorts), and must not have been invalidated since publication.
    • Qualifying Price move: ≥50% upside (long) or ≥30% downside (short) from identified buy/sell zone / entry price.
    • Invalidation: Longs invalid if price falls ≥50% below buy zone / entry price; shorts invalid if price rises ≥50% above sell zone / entry price. Unless the post clearly describes and identifies specific and reasonable price ranges in the forecast and the price remained within those ranges (moderators discretion).
    • Most importantly, a reasoned thesis explaining WHY the forecasted move is expected, must be included (this could be as short as 1 sentence, as long as the reasoning is abundantly clear from the stated thesis).
    • Moderators may disqualify nominees with a history of "spamming" predictions (unless of course the majority of those predictions turned out to be accurate).
  • Process: Any member can highlight a successful call for moderator verification. If valid, 500 XP is awarded instantly.

Note: System parameters may be adjusted by Admins/Contributors based on evolving experience.
